2.0L Turbo I-4 Engine

The base engine available for the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas is a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine. This engine delivers a nice combination of performance output and fuel economy. The 2.0L turbo engine is able to generate 235 horsepower and up to 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be paired with either standard FWD or the 4MOTION® AWD system.

When equipped with FWD, the engine allows the 2021 Atlas to achieve fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. With the 4MOTION® AWD system equipped, the city fuel economy is slightly reduced to 20 mpg. The 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine is standard on the S and SE trim levels and available on the SE w/Tech, SEL, and SEL Premium trim levels of the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas.

3.6L V6 Engine

The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas secondary engine is a 3.6L V6 engine. This engine delivers better performance output than the base engine while offering slightly lower fuel economy ratings. The 3.6L engine can generate 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Like the base engine, this engine can also be paired with FWD or the 4MOTION® AWD system.

With FWD, the V6 engine allows the 2021 VW Atlas to offer fuel economy ratings of 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. City and highway fuel economy are reduced to 16 mpg and 22 mpg respectively when this engine is paired with the 4MOTION® AWD system. Customers can find the 3.6L V6 engine standard on the SE w/Tech R-Line and SEL R-Line trim levels and available on the SE w/Tech, SEL, and SEL Premium trim levels of the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas.
